Boarding at Oak International School is about providing a home from home whether for one night, a week or for a term. The Boarding House provides a supportive and caring environment for pupils to spend time with their friends enjoying a range of activities and trips. It encourages students to concentrate on their studies,.
The Boarding ethos of the school is described as professional but also relaxed, open and homely with an emphasis placed on respecting each other and showing courtesy and good manners to everyone of different backgrounds and cultural beliefs .
Boarding has to be appealing to children and OIS boarding is very much based on feeling happy and safe, and having a lot of fun. There is a “firm, but fair” routine with time set aside for study, music practice and quiet relaxation as well as regular fun nights and special weekend activities
BOARDING OPTIONS; FULL or FLEXI
Boarding at Oak International School is flexible.
- Full boarding— some children board full time. These boarders stay at school most nights and have their own bed in the dorms. A laundry service is provided and they play a full part in weekday and weekend activities. They leave uniform, wash bag, mufti and personal belongings in the Boarding House.
- Flexi boarding — some children regularly board for one, two or three nights a week. Other children board on an occasional basis and these nights are booked in by contacting the Boarding House. They bring in their luggage each time they stay.
