SA – Service as Action

What is SA?

SA is part of the MYP core meaning that students have to be engaged in service experiences throughout the 5 years of the MYP – Grade 6 – 10

Why SA?

It seeks to develop caring members of the community who act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and the environment

It has strong connections with the IB learner profile and to fulfill the IB learner profile, you have to constantly target and reflect on in the 7 learning outcomes

How is SA organized in OIS?

Students in Grade 11 worked together to organize a valentine party which was themed Crack The Love Code – CTLC. Their aim was to use the opportunity to explain to their younger schoolmates what should be the real aim of valentine -TRUE LOVE which is patient, kind, not envious, not boastful not proud, nOt rude, not selfish, not easily angered, keeps no records of wrong but delights in truth, always hopes, always trusts, always perseveres

SDTC means Show your Drawing Talent Competition
Sarah noticed that her school mates were talented in drawing but didn’t always have the opportunity or time to show their talent. She then organized a competition to display their capacities.

Three students in Grade 9 – Ioan, Yekirath and Rebecca – organized a day’s craft project for 60 students in a primary public school. Their aim was to get the students to reinforce their listening skills and their ability to follow directions with making crafts. They also wanted the students to enjoy a time of creativity and relaxation through coloring
